Cancer Highly Predominant Among Australian Men, Say Recent ReportsAs per recent reports, it has been revealed that the men born in Australia are highly susceptible towards showing more and more perspective signs hinting towards prostate cancer as compared to men born at other lands.

In this regard, a recently concluded study has revealed that diet may well hold high imperativeness the reasons in this regard.

The Medical Journal of Australia has recently published a report claiming that Australian-born men, especially those over the age of 70, are having higher levels of prostate-specific antigen as compared to those who are born overseas.

Increased PSA levels are said to be one of the potential early indications of prostate abnormalities, such as those in the likes of cancer.

The research, which is said to be the biggest ever general population survey to be held among men over the age of 70, made an examination of the PSA levels in around 1430 men residing in the ethnically diverse region near Sydney's Concord Hospital.

Most of the men involved in the one-of-its-kinds study, more than 48%, were Australian-born and it was found by the researchers that those who were born in Greece, Italy, Ireland, Britain, had considerably lower levels of PSA as compared to Australian-born men.

While expressing his opinion in this regard, along with mentioning what all pros and cons can be expected out of it in the time to follow, Prof. Robert Cumming, the lead author of the study, said that the reason behind this increased susceptibility is most likely to be the diet taken by Australian men. ?The men born in Italy and Greece have a diet that lowers their risk of prostate cancer?, he added.

The reports have been published in the online edition of the Medical Journal of Australia.
